Recognition Settings

Tap the More Menu in the upper-right corner and choose Settings, then open Recognition.

Capture Method

Choose how Action Phrase listens for command speech.

  • Continuous Listening
  • Press & Hold to Recognize

With Press & Hold, phrases are recognized only while holding the Listen floating button.

Command Boundary

Command Boundary controls when a command starts and ends for matching.

  • Automatic (Silence Detection)\ Recognition starts on speech and runs after trailing silence is detected.
  • Start Phrase (Core)\ Recognition waits for a Start Phrase, then matches speech after it when the command window closes.
  • Start & End Phrases (Studio)\ Only speech between Start Phrase and End Phrase is used for matching.
  • End Phrase Only (Studio)\ Matching runs when End Phrase is heard, using recent transcript windows and an unambiguous-confidence check.

If a locked option is selected, the app shows Core/Studio requirement messaging.

Phrase / Phrases

This section appears for phrase-based boundaries (everything except Automatic/Silence Detection).

  • Start Phrase is shown for Start Phrase and Start & End Phrases.
  • End Phrase is shown for Start & End Phrases and End Phrase Only.

If Ignore Filler Words is enabled and a filler phrase overlaps your boundary phrase(s), a warning is shown.

Reset After Silence

This section appears for phrase-based boundaries.

  • Interval slider controls when the framed transcript buffer resets.
  • Range: 1 to 5 seconds

This helps prevent older speech from being matched by a later command close phrase.

Lookback Window

This section appears only when Command Boundary is End Phrase Only.

  • 5 seconds
  • 8 seconds
  • 12 seconds

It controls how much recent speech is considered before the End Phrase.

End Phrase Match Range

This section appears only when Command Boundary is End Phrase Only.

  • Range slider controls how far back a phrase can match before End Phrase.
  • Range: 3 to 20 words

Smaller values require the command to be closer to the end.

Filler Words

Controls whether conversational filler terms are removed before matching.

  • Ignore Filler Words toggle
  • Edit Filler Words opens detailed filler-word management

Edit Filler Words

  • Add To target:
  • Beginning Only
  • Everywhere

Use Edit mode to remove filler words from either list.

Generate Suggestions

When on-device Foundation Models are available, a suggestions action can auto-generate filler words for your locale and merge them into both lists.
